And with corporate publishers offering fewer and fewer contracts to first-time writers and tightening their marketing purse strings across the board, it’s crucial that new and seasoned authors alike, especially self-published Black authors, find creative ways to market and promote their work. Centric Productions is delighted to make its own platforms available to authors in this create-the-buzz-yourself environment,” she added.

Middle Ground (Beckham, 2005; ISBN# 0-931761-17-4) is the debut novel of award-winning journalist Rosalind McLymont, editor-in-chief of the renowned business publication, The Network Journal (www.tnj.com), and a partner in McLymont, Kunda & Co., an international business development strategies firm. It won this year’s “Best Fiction” Award at the Self-Published Authors and Independent Publishers Symposium presented annually by Aspicom Media and last October was named “Book of the Month” by Heather Covington’s Disilgold Soul online magazine.

Centric’s Virtual Literary Marketing package consists of the production and posting of a two- to three-minute video “trailer” and a five-minute video of a “dramatized reading” of an author’s work on www.totalblacktv.com, a global video stream specializing in all forms of Black entertainment and with an international audience in the US, UK, France and Ghana. For a “dramatized reading,” Centric creates a script based on the main themes and characters of the author’s work and casts professional actors to deliver a series of performances before live audiences. The dramatized reading video incorporates a segment of the live performance and interviews with the author and members of the audience. Middle Ground’s trailer and dramatized reading are currently streaming on TBTV’s site.

“I am extremely proud that my novel was chosen to be part of what surely will be recognized as a major milestone in the history of publishing. Middle Ground itself is a pioneering work and I could not have desired a better pairing for this kind of marketing coup than with the visionary Centric Productions,” McLymont said.

For more information about Centric Production’s revolutionary Virtual Literary Marketing package, including “trailers” and “dramatized readings,” contact Esther Armah at 1-347-993-9192, or at estherarmah@centricproductions.co.uk.

Harlem Book Fair on Long Island Commemorative Journal Ad Form

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_37sIzVRDl9s/Rrjh_3v9y9I/AAAAAAAAAHY/rou8mZ00jns/s400/Harlem+Book+Fair.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5096071465782856658" />
Harlem Book Fair on Long Island Commemorative Journal
Venue: The Freeport Recreation Center
130 East Merrick Road
Time: 12-6pm

In Celebration on this year's 5th Annual Harlem Book Fair on Long Island, scheduled Saturday, September 29, 2007, we are producing a special Commemorative Journal. Each year, since its inception, noted African-American and Hispanic authors have appeared for book-signings, panel discussions, readings, workshops, and “open mike” sessions about their work.

The community event, designed to promote literacy and literary endeavor on Long Island, is also an opportunity for authors to encourage our youth and dialogue with the community. This year is even proves to be better, as a variety of merchants have been earmarked and will be on hand to exhibit their products/services.

What started in Harlem has found permanent grounds here on Long Island, courtesy of The African Atlantic Genealogical Society (http://www.aagsinc.net), with who Mr. Rodriguez joined forces to debute the first Harlem Book Fair on Long Island in 2003. Since then, Harlem Book Fair on Long Island has been a mainstay and has continues to receive much acclaim. Each year Authors Hispanic, Writers, Venders, Residents, and Politicians alike continue to grace their presence at the Book Fair, along with several thousand consumers.

Much is expected this year and your journal ad and/or information about you will reach hundreds and thousands of avid readers and potential consumers who continue to make their presence known at this wonderful event.

Let’s hear from you. Any questions, please email me at hutimes@aol.com

Elseah Chea, Coordinator
Harlem Book Fair Commemorative Journal 2007

Souvenir Journal Advertisement
Harlem Book Fair on Long Island
Saturday, September 29, 2007

Souvenir Journal Advertisement Rates & Contract

The ad shall occupy: __________page (s) for which I/we agree to pay $________

Back Full Page.…………………………7 ½ x 10………………$350.00
Full Page………………………………..7 ½ x 10………………$275.00
½ Page Vertical…………………………3 ¾ x 10………………$175.00
½ Page Horizontal………………………5 x 7 ½………………..$175.00
¼ Page…………………………………..3 ½ x 5………………..$125.00
Business Cards………………………….standard size………….…$50.00

I want my ad to read:
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Advertiser’s Name ________________________________________________________
Company________________________________________________________________Address_________________________________________________________________
City______________________________________State___________Zip____________

Type of Ad______________________________________________________________

_____Back Full Page _____Full Page _____½ Page Vertical
_____½ Page Horizontal _____¼ Page _____Business Cards

Authorized Signature______________________________________________________

Make check payable to: Hempstead/Uniondale Times
P. Housed in a huge tent on the park grounds, the book fair was a “rain or shine” family event. The book fair opened at noon on Saturday and will closed at 6:00 p.m.

The community event was designed to promote literacy and literary endeavor on Long Island. It is also an opportunity for authors to encourage our youth and dialogue with the community. Nationally acclaimed author, Donna Hill, was among the many noted African American and Hispanic authors available for book-signing. There were panel discussions, readings, workshops, “open mike” sessions, multi-cultural music and dance, and a variety of merchandise and food vendors. For the young people, a Children’s Pavilion was set-aside for children’s book authors, readings, a face painter, storytellers and other fun activities. Admission to the book fair was free.

The Harlem Book Fair, established in 1999 by Max Rodriguez, publisher of QBR The Black Book Review, has been held annually, in Harlem. Due to the Book Fair’s success and Mr. Rodriguez’s continued efforts to bridge the literary world and urban communities, the Book Fair has established venues across the country. The first Harlem Book Fair on Long Island debuted in 2003, in suburban Freeport, NY. San Diego, CA debuted in 2004, followed by Roxbury, MA and Buffalo, NY, in 2005. Hartford, CT debuts September 23, 2006, and the year 2007 will herald the first Harlem Book Fair in Canada.

The hosts of the Harlem Book Fair on Long Island for the calendar year 2006: The African Atlantic Genealogical Society, QBR the Black Book Review, the African American Museum and the Village of Hempstead; with the support of Verizon and Astoria Federal Savings. Other organizations on the Planning Committee were the Coordinating Agency for Spanish Americans (CASA), Nassau Literacy and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Visit the following links for more information on the 2007 Harlem Book Fair on Long Island.

http://www.aagsinc.net/Bookfair_Page.html
